About the devices

Each Mataki device has a compact size (43 x 21 x 7 mm) and weighs 8 g without a battery. Each device is equipped with a microcontroller, memory, radio transceiver, triaxial accelerometer, pressure sensor, GPS Receiver, and GPS Antenna, and a light sensor/photodiode. Different settings can be used to disable many of these components to reduce power consumption, allowing the device to operate in low power mode. In this mode the power consumption is as low as 24.9 μA, but important periodic tasks reacting to external events can still be achieved. However, the realised power consumption will depend on the parameters and tracking regime used.
